In this new year, what old things do you need to take out of your life? What new things do you need to fill your mind? Are there new habits you need to develop in order to become who God created you to be?

“They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. But that is not the way you learned Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:19-24

Did you notice that there is a concept of putting off and putting on in the above scripture? Your health, finances, relationships really comes down to stopping some things you need to stop doing and starting some stuff you need to start doing. In other words, stop magnifying and putting negative and hurtful things into your mind, and start putting things in your mind that edify Jesus, edify your relationships, and community.

Let’s say you go to your favorite store to look for a new pair of jeans. You find the pair you like and take it into one of the changing rooms. If you are already wearing jeans, you will not try to put on the new pair over the jeans you already have on. That would be ridiculous and irrational! It makes sense to take off your old pair before you put on the new one.

Please understand that your old habits will not create new opportunities. You have to be receptive to change and renew your mind daily. Change your attitude and get ready for your season of increase. Click To Tweet

In maximizing your potential and manifesting your destiny, you have to take off before you can put on. This is true spiritually, physically, emotionally and mentally.
